Just Say Know

3rd November 2009

 

On 3rd November  2009 we had a day for people moving on from Hospital units, as part  of our citizens project.

 

The day was great, with Dave Hingburger teaching us about keeping safe and knowing when to say “No!” .

Yellow Health Book

20th November 2009

 

All year we have been working hard on making the new Yellow Health Books in partnership with NHS Bournemouth and Poole, Poole Forum, Carers and many other health staff!

 

We had a big launch event so you could get your book.The book will help you go to the doctors and hospital.

Big Night Out

16th December 2009

 

 

We have now had our 6th Big Night Out.  The night was put on in partnership with Bournemouth and Poole council’s, Poole

Forum and of course - us!

 

We had over 450 people join us at the O2 Acadamy in Boscombe, where the Mayor of Bournemouth opened the night.Then Double Act did a great cabaret called “Whirling Dogs Superstars”.

 

We danced the night away with music from  our great Mix it Up DJ’s.

 

We enjoyed the night as much as we did.

Working 9-5

14th April 2010

 

This April we had a great day learning about employment. Over 70 people came to the day, including speakers from Bournemouth Borough Council.

 

 

Community Safety Training

19th February 2010

 

We had a day about keeping safe at Streetwise and learnt about the help you can get if you are a victim or witness of a crime.  

Thanks to Coast 2 Coast and  Dorset Crown Prosecution Service for helping to pay for the day.

 

 

Southwest Forum, Hate Crime Event

29th April 2010

 

Some of our Trustees and staff went to Taunton for a Big Event on Hate Crime.  The day was put on by the Southwest Regional Forum and lots of people went.

 

On the day we collected the award for the Yellow Health Book and even took part in a role play about abuse.

 

 

 

Learning Disability Awareness Training

5th March 2010

 

We have finished developing our Learning Disability Awareness Training and in March we delivered it to lots of housing staff.

 

The day was a fantastic success with some people saying “its the best training I have ever been on!”

Yellow Health Book wins award!!

 

Last year we worked very hard on re-designing the Yellow Health Books, funded and supported by NHS Bournemouth and Poole.  

 

To make the book we worked with many people including; Poole Forum, Carers and many heath staff.

 

Dorset liked the book so much they decided they wanted to use it too and now the books have even won an award.  The award is for the best paper format in the southwest Easy Information Competition 2009!!
