“Ring Of Safety”

8th December 2008

We’ve just had a great day on keeping safe, we called it our Ring Of Safety Day.

We were joined by speaker Dave Hingsburger as well as our members, Dorset Police, Bournemouth Crown Persecution Service(CPS), and Bournemouth Council- over 80 people came in total!

In the morning we learnt about Hate Crimes, what to do if we are a victim or witness of a crime and how we are all working together to make things better for people with learning disabilities.

We even had time for a quiz!

In the afternoon Dave Hingsburger got us all doing role plays and was teaching us about keeping safe.

What a great day!

“Big Night Out”

8th January 2009

DJs with learning disabilities from Bournemouth People First and Poole Forum  performed at our latest Big Night Out.

The ‘Big Night Out’ was at Poole Lighthouse this year and was a huge success!

The ‘Mix It Up!’ DJ crew have been working with professional DJ Simon Green as part of the ‘Mix It Up!’ DJ training project since May 2007.

The ‘Big Night Out’ had a mix of music from disco to techno.

The project was developed and is managed through a partnership between Bournemouth People First and Poole Forum working with Bournemouth Borough Council and Borough of Poole Arts Development teams.

We hope everyone that came had a great night...we certainly did!
